Bonneville Whiner

Day one of “training to win”-- Besides the guilt, it felt no different from other days of "just training". I did a hill workout on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. The hill went up exactly 100 vertical feet and it took me about 1 minute and 40 seconds to run up it (at about 170 bpm), plus 5 or 6 minutes to jog back around an easier way (at about 125 bpm). I did six repeats on this hill but now wish I would have done four more. That's what I told myself I would do when I headed out the door. That what a dedicated person would do and what a winner (not a whiner) would do.
Later, I spent a good two hours, maybe more, surfing the web looking at running websites. I found some interesing information about walking. It only makes sense, I know that in my other 50 I walked all the uphills in the second half of the race. I’m not sure how that is going to work in this race when about half of the distance is spent on the uphill side but I almost certainly will be walking some of it. Also, it makes good sense to build some recovery time into what is likely to be a twelve hour grind. I will practice walking.
